The Sovereign State of Papua New Guinea embarked on a major Police Housing Rehabilitation Program commencing in 2007. The National Executive Council (NEC) initially agreed to fund the program with PGK50 million (AUD $25 million) under the Supplementary Budget to improve selected Police Houses for each Province country-wide for the Royal PNG Constabulary (RPNGC). The RPNGC then invited successful management contractors to manage the program.
Kramer Ausenco was successfully commissioned by RPNGC to implement Project Management Services for the RPNGC. As the Managing Contractor, we were involved from initial conception to handover of a nominated project;
- Mobilization
- Tender Documentation
- Tendering, Tender Evaluation and all Building Approvals
- Award of Contracts
- Contract Administration
- Quality Assurance
- Defects Liability Period
- Post Occupancy Evaluation
We liaised with the many respective provincial building boards for all building permits. Our Project Managers and Building Technologists having extensively travelled all over PNG supervising these projects under trying conditions are well accustomed to the expectations of the end users. We amicably dealt with and resolved any community issues that arose from time to time. Recently in 2010, RPNGC have requested Kramer Ausenco to submit a Variation Proposal to extend the scope of works to another K70million satisfied that we have efficiently managed the projects and have handed over many houses within a short timeframe yet keeping to budgets. We worked very closely with the RPNGC and other stakeholders to achieve the agreed milestones.
