Kramer Ausenco was responsible for all technical aspects of the construction works including programming the works, to liaise with the supervising engineers on all facets of the works, preparation & settlement of all claims on the project, quality control and dealing with all subcontractors.
The actual works included resurfacing & reconstruction of existing roads (34km section), complete new construction (40km), and construction along an existing track (28km).
Pavement design was based on lab CBR, insitu CBR & Benkelman-beam testing. Four major bridges were constructed to NAASRA specifications & numerous culverts were built. Several quarries were established using mobile screening & crushing plants from which all pavement materials were supplied. A complete material testing laboratory was established on site. Two 200 man camps were set up complete with reticulated power, water & sewerage to service the project over the 2.5 year construction period.
