This special event befalls yearly in July and is a 10 Leg Relay Race around the Island of Efate, for 10 runners. This year’s event was held on the 21st July, in which Kramer Ausenco fielded 2 teams. Team 1 was for the Premier men’s division and Team 2 was for the mixed (men’s/women’s) division.
The legs are of different distances ranging from 13 – 16 Kilometers and beginning with the shorter but steeper legs to longer and flatter segments at the final legs.
The day started as early as 3am for most participants, getting ready for the big race, commencing 5am at the starting line. Kramer Ausenco team 1 comprised of students studying at Malapoa College, while team 2 were client and associates of Kramer Ausenco (Vanuatu). Both teams did their best on the day, which saw team 1 placing 9th and 26th respectably overall from a total of 30 teams.
Joe Blake an individual who ran the entire race himself in a very respectable 11:43 minutes came 20th. This was indeed the highlight of the day when he crossed the finish line, he was interviewed immediately and he did not show any sign of fatigue or even out of breath.
