For the last 5months I have been raising money for the Ride to Conquer Cancer fundraising event. This event involved 1343 entrants riding close to 250km from the University of Queensland to Lake Summerset (and back) over two days. With the support from friends, family and the fellow Kramer Ausenco employees we raised $2,705, which contributed to the collective $4.7M raised for the entire event. The funds raised will be used to fund cancer research at the world class Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
Having never done much riding, I found the ride it self challenging, having to fight for every 244km and 3000m of climbing. However, as hard as it was, I could draw inspiration from fellow riders, some of which carried a yellow flag as a sign of surviving cancer. These people are truly amazing!
Next year we hope to raise more fund for such a great cause.
