Puri Temu is the awardee of the Kramer Ausenco and Unitech Engineering Scholarship 2019. Kramer Ausenco offers the scholarship to fourth-year engineering students at the University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
Mr Temu, 21 years old, from Kapari-Viriolo in the Abau District of the Central Province, is studying for a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and plans to pursue a career as a professional civil/structural engineer.
“I would like to work with Kramer Ausenco after I graduate with my bachelor’s degree to develop myself as a well-versed civil and structural engineer.
“I also want to pursue a master’s degree, and a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Earthquake and Structural Dynamics, and use my expertise to contribute to the company and the country. I thank Kramer Ausenco for the opportunity to help me achieve these goals,” he said.
Rovaly Sike, Kramer Ausenco Regional Manager-Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, congratulated Mr Temu on his success.
“Kramer Ausenco believes in the values of employee excellence and empowerment which include recognition and growth. We also focus on delivering global solutions in the Pacific.
“The scholarship recognises Mr Temu’s potential to grow in the industry, gain world-class knowledge and experience, and use that know-how and skill to give back to the region and PNG as Kramer Ausenco has over 40 years,” Mr Sike said.
He thanked the University of Technology for the partnership which allows a Papua New Guinean engineering firm to participate in the training of Papua New Guinean engineers.
Mr Temu is the third recipient of the annual scholarship which was introduced in 2017. Scholarship recipients in the preceding years were Chapman Ben and Samuel Nanggore, both electrical engineers. Mr Ben is currently employed by Kramer Ausenco’s PNG office as a graduate electrical engineer.
Kramer Ausenco rewards a high performer among the third-year engineering students by sponsoring his or her fourth year at the university. However, selection is not based only on grades; the applicant’s character and attitude are also considered as the company aims to build wholesome individuals.
