Kramer Ausenco (Solomon Islands) Ltd recently sponsored READ SI, a Non-Government Organisation (NGO), with the printing of ‘Soccer’ Educational Books for rural Solomon Islands people-in particular women and children-for the benefit of learning simple English.
READ SI created the National Literacy Campaign from April 2017 – 2018, and has been writing books for the past three years that rural people can read to learn simple English.
Knowing the children and youth enjoy playing soccer, this book was written as a tool to attract and motivate them to learn to read and practice their reading. The book gives simple instructions in playing the game and doing exercises that are good for the body. The writers looked at various sources of material on soccer and combined them to create this book. The artist is a talented Solomon Islands man who has done the artwork for many READ SI books.
“We hope that this book will be enjoyed by everyone and that reading will become a way of life for people who want to learn,” said Rovaly Sike, Office Manager of Kramer Ausenco (SI).
He said Kramer Ausenco (SI) is proud to continually service the Solomon Islands in the area of education, such as the development of the modern Solomon Island National University, Panatina Project, and the new state-of-the-art University of the South Pacific, Honiara Campus, located at King George VI. The company recognizes its corporate obligations in also further educating adults in rural areas of the provinces who in-turn will educate Solomon Islands pikinini’s (children).
“Our commitment to READ SI is a testament of our commitment to also support rural education initiatives,” Mr Sike said.
