The 2015 Rugby season in Papua New Guinea (PNG) kicked off with the Oceania Cup in Port Moresby where the PNG Pukpuks won the competition.
In that Pukpuks 15 side which beat Solomon Islands, American Samoa and Tahiti to claim their fourth title, were Kramer Ausenco Brothers Club players Tisa Kautu-who captained that national team-Junior Kautu, and Junior Rabi Namaliu.
Tisa, Junior Kautu and Junior Rabi, are but three of a company of talented, skilful players from the Brothers impressing national and provincial selectors.
Because of the Pacific Games this year and the initial unavailability of fields to play on, the Capital Rugby Union (CRU) 15s competition was cancelled and only a 7s tournament run.
The Kramer Ausenco Brothers were the 1st weekend’s cup winners with six Brothers players selected to Capital Rugby for the National Provincial Championship, and Tisa making the Pukpuks 7s side this time and again named captain.
The club wrapped up its 7s season by fielding two teams in the CRU Labi Amaiu 7s tourney. Team 1 went down in the cup quarter final but got back up fighting qualifying for the plate final and beating the Hon. Labi Amaiu’s North East Electorate Select Side 19-10.
The Brothers have recruited and developed well, and look good-on paper and on grass-for season 2016.
