What are the most enjoyable aspects of your job?
Business Development (especially forging new relationships with clients), leadership, being able to evaluate everything with a leadership bias and professional development of my colleagues. Initiate, develop and improve infrastructure to rural Solomon Islander households via global engineering initiatives and solutions.
What is it about Kramer Ausenco that makes us different from our competitors?
Providing global solutions with a local focus and being able to have permanent ongoing presence in country in the South Pacific which helps in developing local professionals with their career advancement in engineering, project management and architecture. Our project team is large enough to offer international and best practice expertise – but also small enough that our people and our practices retain the flexibility to adapt and integrate with our clients to ensure local values and customs are retained.
Julieth Jiap, Graduate Electrical Engineer (PNG)
How long have you worked at Kramer Ausenco?
Over 4 years
What are the most enjoyable aspects of your job?
The most enjoyable aspect of my job is learning hands-on on site during regular site inspections and commissioning inspections. As an engineer, I can design a system inside the air conditioning system inside a building but without actually being out on site, I cannot truly appreciate the implications a contractor may face during construction. Only then we can adjust the design to allow for the most practicable task while still upholding the set building codes and standards.
What is it about Kramer Ausenco that makes us different from our competitors?
Kramer Ausenco takes pride in grooming its graduate engineers. Each graduate is assigned to a mentor in any of our offices in the Pacific. The graduates can then discuss on any issues with their mentors prior to our monthly graduate meeting with all offices. Kramer Ausenco ensures that prior to any site inspection on a new construction site, safety induction is conducted and each engineer is equipped with appropriate PPE. As graduates we are involved in a versatile number of activities. Not just are we involved in designing and construction and commissioning inspections but also in kick-start, weekly and commissioning meetings with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and project managers. After the completion of every project, all engineers and graduates involved in the project get together and discuss on their ‘Lessons Learnt’ during the project.
